Well… That’s embarrassing!

So…

The site’s been down for a couple of days. Yeah, that was not fun. I’ve been scratching my head trying to figure it out with zero success.

As you can tell I found the answer. Somehow I managed to cross the streams so to speak. I had a file uploaded to the site that was intended to manage an ASP.Net site not a PHP site which WordPress is. Apparently this file has been out there for a while and the GoDaddy servers have ignored it by giving precedence to the PHP config files.

That precedence seems to have switched last week.

I’ve deleted the file and all is well. I’m chagrined by this experience and promise it won’t happen again. Sorry about the technical difficulties.

On with the show!

Netflix and the Cartoons of my Childhood

So far I’ve been able to find the original Thundercats, Godzilla and Masters of the Universe while browsing through related titles on Netflix via my Apple TV.  These shows soaked up hours of my time on Saturday mornings and afternoons after school when I was a kid. Now that they’re available to me on demand we’ll see how much of my time as an adult they absorb.

Afterburn SF Flickr Group Created

I’ve created a Flickr group for Afterburn SF images.  I’ve got great plans for the group that I’ll be announcing soon.  For now the group is open to anyone that wants to join and is accepting submissions.

Feel free to post your Science Fiction, Fantasy or Horror themed illustrations, animation, video or photography.  I can’t wait to see what the creative community here comes up with.

Enjoy!

Cowboys & Aliens

I’m torn between wanting to see this and the disappointment I felt watching the last Harrison Ford movie involving aliens. Crystal Skull
I’m looking at you!

The trailer does a good job of piquing my interest but I’m still extremely skeptical. I truly want this to be a good movie. However, I’ll reserve judgement until I actually see it. The question is do I invest the $20 it will take to see it in the theater?

A Dance with Dragons by George R. R. Martin

It’s here! Finally, the long awaited continuance of the Song of Ice and Fire series has been released. I’ve been trying to remember how long ago it was that I read A Feast for Crows but I can’t recall the exact year. I have it in hard back so it must have been close to the release date but I’m not sure. I can say that book was released in October 2007, so we’re very close to a four year gap. I can only hope the next book is not so far in the future.

Watch this space for my thoughts (no spoilers, I promise ;) ) on the book as I read it.
